Real Ale and Cider Festival 2019
Now in its 12th year,the Weston Lions Club 2019 Real Ale and Cider Festival reached new heights with record numbers of people attending, barrels tapped and pints sold.
The festival, which was held in large marquee on the beach lawns, commenced on Thursday evening 24th July ’19 with a pre-Festival Charity Dinner for 300, followed by a Race Night, a lively event that was enjoyed by all.
Throughout the weekend (which was blessed with good weather) people were treated to a variety of excellent rock pop and Jazz bands which made the festival go with a swing.
On Sunday morning the 28th July the club held its annual ‘Go Kids Go’ presentation of cheques and pledges with a total of £10,000 being presented to 33 winning youth organisations, which is money raised with the collaboration and support the support of local sponsors including Weston Mercury, Puxton Park,The Grand Pier and other local businesses.
Weston Lions Club President, Bob Jones, stated that it was apleasure to see so many happy, smiling people enjoying themselves at the festivalwhilstalso raising money for local and nation charities and other worthy causes.
Thanks must be given to all the volunteers who helped with the staffing for the festival and to the 150 plus local business who sponsored Barrels.
This Year’s major beneficiaries are Children’s Hospice South West, Cancer Research UK and Western Air Ambulance.
